YouTube has self-reported 2 billion global monthly active monthly users and has the second highest percent – 6.4% of all US traffic according to SimilarWeb, behind number 1 Google with 18.71%.  And as of early 2019, 73% of US adults say they have used YouTube, more than Facebook (69%).

YouTube users are not just the younger generations either.  In October 2019 it was reported that unsurprisingly 81% of US internet users aged 15-25 had used YouTube, but other older groups were not far behind, even a majority – 58% – of internet users 56+ used YouTube.

Even business Leaders, whom you would think don’t have time to spend watching YouTube, are increasing their YouTube usage. In a 2009 Forbes study only 63% of executives used YouTube to discover business related content monthly or more but a study from Global Web Index from 2019 shows that 85% of Business Leaders have visited YouTube in the last month.

Overall, YouTube’s user base is huge and varied making it an optimal place to reach any audience as more people spend more and more of their time consuming online video.
